Cosmic Circuits announces portfolio of Analog-to-Digital Converter IP-cores for Monitoring Applications

Low power & compact foot-print cores for applications ranging from 8-10b and 200KSPS to 20MHz, and across 180nm, 130nm, 90nm and 65nm technology nodes

04-Feb-2009 Bangalore, INDIA, Gilroy, California: Cosmic Circuits, a leading provider of differentiated Analog and Mixed-Signal IP cores, announced its portfolio of more than 20 cores A/D converters for monitoring applications.

The portfolio of IP-cores that is available now includes A/D converters at 8-10 bits of resolution, and speeds from 200KSPS to 20MSPS, typically used for monitoring applications. These A/D converters are ideally suited for monitoring battery-voltages, touch-screen and remote presses, battery voltage monitoring, temperature monitoring, RF power-level monitoring, monitoring power-supply voltage levels, sensors and several control-loop applications.

Commenting on the technology, C. Srinivasan, VP of engineering at Cosmic Circuits, said that, “these Successive Approximation (SAR) type A/D converters are very low in die-area and power”, adding that, “we have successfully carried the production proven architecture across several process technologies, right from 180nm to 65nm”.

“Such a wide portfolio of monitoring A/D converters available as silicon-proven IP-cores from a single source makes it easy for customers to choose their process technology node and not be limited by Analog IP availability”, said Krishnan Ramabadran, VP of Marketing for Cosmic Circuits. “These IP-cores are available in the LP (Low-Power) and G (Generic and fast) process flavors. They feature cores with power-supply voltage support of 1.2V or 3.3V. Other than monitoring applications, we even offer versions that suit low-speed wireless communication channel applications such as Bluetooth or DAB”.

Built using a robust architecture that is production proven, these SAR type A/D converters are designed with multiple-channel (8) inputs, ability to calibrate gain and offset, and with power-down modes. The low latency aids in minimizing control-loop latencies as well as improve channel equalization in communications applications.

Cosmic Circuits constantly endeavors to bring differentiated and quality Analog and Mixed-Signal IP cores to the design-community for integration on system-on-Chips. Through its portfolio of high-performance cores, Cosmic Circuits helps its customers accelerate time-to-market, while covering the Analog integration requirements.
